I wasn’t sure this day would happen, and it’s just a small, teeny tiny step in the progress, but it’s a step, so that makes it important. For the last month, month and a half, I’ve been going back and forth with my dissertation chair with my pre-proposal. With his assistance, I’ve done three revisions, and with each revision, I’ve gotten closer to what it is exactly I want to do and how I plan to go about doing it. It has been a tiring step in the process, especially with me trying to read like a speed demon and yet digest what is needed to make this pre-proposal make sense for me and for my committee. I submitted my third draft to my chair late Friday night, and got word today from my chair that he’s sent it on to the rest of the committee to read, review, and make comments on. I’m nervous as all get out, but a bit excited, too.
I’m proud of myself. Been working hard to read, synthesize, and figure some things out, and now it looks like I might have the pre-proposal approved by my mid-June deadline. Gives me about two months to go back and forth with committee and make this a document that all four of us can nod and agree on. Now that moment, the moment of full approval will be a special moment for me, so I’ll talk more about the dissertation topic and what-have-you then.
Hope to be around these parts more, posting up articles and sites that are of interest to me and my research…along with some thoughts of my own.
Onward and upward…
